Barbara Treacy, A.B., M.A., Ed. M. Harvard University. Treacy is the senior project director of EdTech Leaders™ Online, a national online professional development program based at Education Development Center (EDC) aimed at building capacity in local organizations to use online learning and to integrate technology into K-12 curriculum. Treacy's work includes designing online professional development workshops for teachers and administrators and implementing, facilitating and assessing online workshops for school districts around the country. She also directs EDC's collaboration with a consortium of the five rural school districts in northeastern Louisiana, as part of its AMERICA 2000 Technology Innovation Challenge Grant, to develop and present a series of online, Web-based discussion workshops for teacher professional development. Treacy supports related projects at EDC, including working with the planning team for EDC's work with NEIRTEC, one of 10 regional technology in education consortia funded by the U.S. Department of Education, and working with the WEEA Equity Resource Center's online course for math, science and technology teachers called Engaging Girls in Math and Science.
Kirsten Petersen, B.A. English, Montana State University; Ed.M. Technology in Education, Harvard University. Petersen co-directs EdTech Leaders™ Online. Her responsibilities include managing project staff, designing, implementing and assessing online professional development workshops using distributed learning technologies. This work includes developing workshop curricula, designing and building course websites, selecting and customizing online discussion software, managing course registration process, orchestrating participation of guest faculty, facilitating online discussions and providing technical support to participants. Petersen also serves as editor of LNT Perspectives: The Online Journal of the Leadership and the New Technologies Community. This journal supports school and district leaders around the country who are integrating technology into K-12 education.
Leinda Peterman, B.A., English, Mississippi University for Women; M.Ed., Educational Administration, University of Southern Mississippi. Peterman is a senior technology associate for Education Development Center's EdTech Leaders™ Online. She is also director of AMERICA 2000, a USDE Technology Innovation Challenge Grant, awarded in 1998 to Concordia Parish (County) School District, Louisiana, on behalf of a consortium of five school districts. AMERICA 2000 has offered online professional development since 1999 with the guidance and assistance of EDC. Peterman has 23 years experience as a language arts teacher, 10 years experience as an administrator and 15 years experience in organizing and managing professional development programs, especially related to the integration of technology into the standards-based curriculum. Her Louisiana and Mississippi certifications include English, social studies and administration.
