Aimie Vallat
Current student, M.A. Strategic Communication

As a Strategic Communication student, Aimie Vallat says she has learned about environmental sustainability, organizational psychology and leadership within a holistic and systemic framework.

"This varied perspective has allowed me to broaden my learning in communications while highlighting the interconnectedness inherent in all social change work," she says.

She has had an opportunity to participate in an independent study where she is producing a series of video shorts with a local filmmaker.

"I have met an incredible group of people while at Antioch, from the staff to faculty to the other students in my cohort."

"I have been able to fuse my learning in the classroom with practical hands-on application in production and filmmaking. The result has been a rich and rewarding experience of learning by doing," Vallat describes.

She credits B.J. Bullert, core faculty in the Strategic Communication program, for her support and encouragement.

"She has been exceptional in guiding my growth in communications while making sure I succeed in the projects I am involved in. Her consistent willingness to help me navigate my interests and connect me with other people and resources has made my Antioch experience very positive," she says.

There's also a rich camaraderie she has found at Antioch.

"I have met an incredible group of people while at Antioch, from the staff to faculty to the other students in my cohort. I have found and fostered new friendships and have participated in many conversations that have deepened my understanding of my place in the world and how I want to engage in effective and meaningful social change work," she says.
