Antioch's master's degree in Education offers two
curriculum options. A self-designed option on our
Seattle campus and options
at off-campus sites.
Self-Designed Option at Seattle Campus
This flexible 48-hour offering may be completed full time or part
time. Courses meet late afternoons, evenings and occasional Saturdays.
You begin designing your program in the Introductory Seminar. You
then build your program around your professional interests and
the core knowledge areas below.
Program Introduction
Core Knowledge Areas
Your build your program from four interdisciplinary areas:
- Diversity and equity
- Curriculum studies and reflective practices
- Leadership and reform
- Inquiry and research
Concentration
You design an area of concentration combining courses, independent
studies and collaborative projects.
Course offerings include: The Moral Classroom; Reading, Writing
and Thinking Across the Curriculum; Adult Literacy; Cross-Cultural
Issues in K-12 Education; Environmental Education; Special Education;
and Integrated Arts.
The Inquiry Project
You conclude your master’s degree by delving into literature
and research either individually or collaboratively. You decide
your topic of inquiry in consultation with your faculty advisor.
Curriculum Option at School
& Community Sites
This program is offered to a cohort of 25 to 30 educators at a
site in your community. Courses are offered late afternoons, evenings
and selected weekends. This 48-credit curriculum can be completed
in only five quarters.

Additional required courses allow you to explore your interests
and individualize your program.
