Stephen Floyd, B.A., Asbury College; Ph.D., University of Oregon. Floyd taught acting and dramatic literature classes at Mt. Hood Community College and Linfield College and now teaches language arts and drama at Vashon Island High School. He has worked as an actor and director in educational, community and professional theatre for more than 30 years. His favorite roles as an actor include George Tesman in Ibsen's "Hedda Gabler," Jacques in Shakespeare's "As You Like It," and Br'er Fox in a stage version of the Uncle Remus tales called "Livin' de Life." His diverse directing credits include Shakespeare's "The Tempest," the musical version of "Little Shop of Horrors," a modern Noh play by Yukio Mishima titled "The Damask Drum," and the classic American comedy by Kaufman and Hart, "You Can't Take It With You."

Ruth McRee, B.A., Valparaiso University; theatre training at The Goodman School of Drama at the Art Institute of Chicago and A Conservatory Theatre in San Francisco; M.A. in Theatre, University of Southern California; teaching certificate, Pacific Oaks College in Seattle. McRee has worked in professional theatre for 25 years as an actor, director and playwright. After earning her teaching certificate in Washington, she focused on finding ways for students to discover all that the arts provide. As a drama and movement specialist, she designed high school drama programs, after-school drama workshops for middle schools, and developmentally appropriate drama classes for all elementary grades. She has taught acting and oral interpretation at the university and graduate levels. She is the director of "Playworks in Education," a program to actively engage students as they learn and understand social studies, literature and science.
