What have graduates said about the program?
"This past quarter, I completed the Special Education Endorsement program at Antioch University Seattle. I found the viewpoint of the program stimulating, the format useful and flexible, the faculty awesome and the things I learned comprehensive, thought-provoking and immediately applicable. Before I started the program, I was not really conscious of all the various issues involved. I am now much more aware of what the student is facing, what the school's role is, how the parent(s) can best fit into the picture, and what strategies or techniques I might use to best serve the student. I really do believe that I have improved my teaching skills because of what I have learned; certainly I am more confident and find that I am getting better results with my students." — Nancy Detterbeck

"A little over a year ago, I was unsure about teaching, mainly because I was a substitute teacher and was not successful in finding a permanent position. I am currently employed by the Evergreen School District in Vancouver, WA. Many have told me that it is one of the best in the state. I teach in the special education department at Mountain View High School with children with emotional and behavior disorders. I believe that without my experience at Antioch, obtaining this job would not have happened."
— Philip Mitchell

When do classes meet?

The courses are offered Saturdays from September through June and weekdays during the summer. A short supervised internship at the student's workplace is required. If you live more than 50 miles outside of the Seattle metropolitan area, you may seek a distance learning option from the endorsement coordinator. You can start the program any time after the application is complete.
