What kind of work could I do with a degree focused in sustainable business?
Students work in a variety of fields upon graduation. Some continue their professional work while others start new employment in businesses or nonprofits. You may also want to start your own business and shape your studies to match your goals. You may also want to go on to graduate studies.

Does Antioch University Seattle offer graduate studies in sustainable business?
Antioch has five master's programs in the Center for Creative Change that focus on sustainability and organizations, including business. The programs include management and leadership, communication, environment and community, organizational development and whole systems design. You may also consider the ladder option, which allows you to take courses at the master's level that apply to both undergraduate and graduate studies if you apply to one of Antioch's master's programs.

Who teaches the courses?
All our classes are taught by experienced teachers who are working professionals in their fields. Our faculty includes managers, marketers, financial experts and business professionals who all share the goal of creating sustainable businesses.

Are there opportunities to gain real world experience while I am in school?
Yes, there are many opportunities to gain real world experience while studying at Antioch. Many students do internships or apprenticeships focused on a variety of activities including work in nonprofits with a sustainability focus and businesses that create products/services to create a greener environment. You may have a business in mind where you would like to intern as part of your coursework and Antioch will support your interests.

I have prior experience in this concentration. Can I document it for credit?
Yes, we have had researchers, managers, communications professionals and others who have written about the learning gained from their past work for college credit. To learn more about this, check out Writing for Life Experience.

Can I use courses I've taken at other institutions to meet the requirements of this concentration?
Yes. Students transfer in previous course work taken at community colleges and at other universities. Students may also transfer in business based courses that may have been taken at specialized or technical institutions. In fact, we ask that you transfer in or take two accounting courses (Fundamentals of Accounting I and II) from an outside educational institution as part of your coursework.

Can I complete more than one academic concentration?
Students sometimes find it desirable to complete a second area of concentration. In this case, only 35 credits are required as a minimum for the additional area.

How many credits are required in this academic concentration?
Regardless of whether you choose individualized or structured learning, your academic concentration requires a minimum of 45 credits, although students often earn more credits than this in their area of specialization.

How long does it take to complete my undergraduate degree?
Most students graduate from the B.A. completion program in two years or less. Completion of 180 quarter credits is required for graduation. These may include transcript credits from other colleges and universities, Antioch University credits, and prior learning credits earned through Antioch's prior learning program. You must enroll for a minimum of four quarters and at least 45 current learning credits to get your liberal arts degree from Antioch.
