Antioch Welcomes Dean of University Relations
Seattle — Mary Lou LaPierre recently joined Antioch University
Seattle as the new dean of university relations. In this role, she oversees
fund raising, communications and community and governmental relations.
LaPierre graduated from Antioch's master's in psychology program in
1983 and has served on the AUS Board of Visitors.
LaPierre's long career in higher education has included experience
at both the University of Washington and Washington State University.
She served for 17 years at the UW in positions such as director of the
university information center, director of enrollment control and executive
assistant to the vice provost.
She also was the founding executive director of Washington State University
West, a position she held for more than 12 years. She supervised the
West campus fund-raising efforts, alumni relations and admissions outreach
office. She designed and directed the redesign part of Campaign WSU
to raise $30 million from its 11 regions.
More recently, LaPierre has been a fund-raising consultant for nonprofit
organizations with emerging fund-raising programs. She is a member of
and has served in leadership roles in numerous Seattle organizations,
including: Intercommunity Housing, Seattle #4 Rotary, Northwest Enological
Society and Northwest Development Officers' Association.
