"Original Thinker" to Speak on History, Psychology and the
Environment
Seattle — Chellis Glendinning — a recognized political
activist, author, poet and ecopsychologist — will discuss "The
Roaring Inside Us: An Ecopsychological View of History" at 2 p.m.,
Sunday, Jan. 12. Ecopsychology is a psychological approach to living
that promotes harmony between the environment and the individual.
This free presentation, sponsored by Antioch University Seattle's Center
for Creative Change, will take place in room 100 at Antioch (2326 Sixth
Ave., Seattle).
Utne Reader magazine named Glendinning one of the world's most original
thinkers. Her books concern social issues, personal psychology and the
natural world. They include:
- "Off the Map: An Expedition Deep into Empire and the Global
Economy," winner of the National Federation of Press Women 2000
Book Award
- "My Name Is Chellis and I'm in Recovery from Western Civilization"
- When Technology Wounds," which was nominated for a Pulitzer
Prize
