| Position Summary |
The Academic Computer Support Specialist provides technical support for software and hardware applications and conducts training classes for AUS students, faculty and staff; serves as primary support for software needs and classroom use of audio, visual, recording, editing and transmission equipment; collaborates with IT Staff in maintaining and troubleshooting software and hardware. Work schedule includes Friday, Saturday and the first two Sundays in the month. |
| Essential Functions/Accountabilities |
- Assist students, faculty and staff with academic computing needs in use of software and hardware.
- Assist campus-based university IT staff in maintaining and troubleshoot software and hardware issues in the library and computer labs. Serves as primary support on Friday, Saturday and the first two Sundays in the month.
- Develop and deliver introductory software training sessions to students, faculty, staff and graduate assistants to enhance student learning, increase use of technology and online learning.
- Assist AUS community with use of internet and HTML.
- Ability to work independently while following established work and administrative procedures and best practices.
- Ability to work effectively in a team by collaborating, sharing knowledge and documenting work.

- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access, Powerpoint and Publisher).
- Maintenance and operation of latest computer technology, in both PC and MAC platforms.
- Ability to conduct computer software training sessions for adults.
- Knowledge with use of computers for audio and video recording, editing and transmission.
- Ability to quickly learn new software programs.
- Strong customer service experience.
- Strong written, communication and presentation skills.

- Experience with Sakai or other course management software and e-mail systems preferred.
- Experience with Elluminate preferred.
- Windows Movie Maker and iMovie experience a plus.
- Knowledge of basic HTML and web design a plus.

| Qualifications |
- AA degree in a computer-related field of study from an accredited community college.
- Experience working in computer related field may substitute for education or a combination of both, or can be currently enrolled in an accredited computer related degree program.
- Minimum 2 years experience in software and hardware support.
- Minimum 1 year experience conducting computer software training.
- Demonstrated ability to work with technology in an academic setting.
- Demonstrated ability to work with a variety of people, and to provide good customer service in a busy environment.
- Experience with MACs and PC operating systems.

Works closely with local students, faculty, administrators and staff.

Works in collaboration with campus and university wide computing staff. |

| Physical and Mental Demands |
1. Ability to regularly lift 40-50 pounds.
2. Frequent bending, stooping, kneeling.
3. Periods of high stress level due to cyclical quarterly fluctuation.
4. Likes to be accessible to variety of clientele with differing needs.
5. Ability to adapt to a flexible work schedule, particularly on weekends.
